Not much news for a while. I was released from the full-time job experience, and now have time to work on projects again. Things are looking good. The future excites me.
Replaced the 30 second files with full MP3s! Feel free to download them for your enjoyment.
FromWithin is diminishing in members...
A new version of my TextBath program is available (v1.3). New options are available to concatenate lines that are hyphenated, and also join together lines where the second line begins with a lower-case character.
Updated my TextBath program. It can now auto-indent and selectively add line-breaks.
Rant: Bloody Linux/Unix. It's far too messy. Files all over the place that seem to have no relevance whatsoever. There is no sense to the system. Files get installed wherever they please. It's ridiculous and I'm starting to really despise it.
Added some new sections to the bottom. Articles will contain things like programming and production tutorials, software contains any programs that Mike has written, and reviews will contain film reviews, music reviews, review of anything at all really.
The gear is back. WinUAE has been fired and the real Amiga is back in town. Although it's convenient to sequence on the laptop, the new setup is much better and should induce more creativity and productivity.
Mike has started writing again. Got some new melodies and lyrics for existing arrangements. He'll start recording again soon.
Fixed the contact page mail problem. It was such a stupid error, I can't believe I never noticed it before.
Found a problem with the contact page....some mails are losing the body text of the message! Have to fix that soon! Sorry about that.
And so 2003 is here. Everyone have a good New Year. My resolution: More music.
It's Dave's birthday today. He's 29. Happy birthday, killer. Why not send him a birthday message?
Well whaddaya know? A good few hours battering at the keys and now my Perl skills are renewed and a weblog exists. Marvellous.
Haven't done any stuff on this site for a while. Been busy. New job and stuff. There has been a request to include info on my game stuff, so I'll do that at some point. I also haven't done any Perl for a while so I'll write a weblog. I was going to do one ages ago, but circumstances prevailed. Let's see what happens.
Added some direct links to the music on the main page. Maybe more people will download them now. There seem to be a lot of people who come here and don't try the music.
So Dave got married! There is a brand new Parkinson in the world, first name Sarah. Tax break...nice. Honeymoon in Las Vegas...nice. No more being nude on the stairs...oh.
And on this side of the fence, I fell off somebody's shoulder and broke my collar bone. Bad one. Sick note for two weeks. I'll be ambidextrous by the time it heals. Luckily it was at the end of the night and most people had gone home. Oh well, never mind.
When we formed, way back in 1995, we didn't expect to take so long getting to where we want to be. There are numerous reasons which I won't go into, but the length of time has meant that other people have thought of the name From Within. There are at least three other bands now who have chosen to take the same name: one in the UK, two in the US. Just to set our position straight, we have been registered on the international band register since 1995, and the worldwide band registry since 1997, and no matter what troubles we have been through and may go through, there are no signs of us ever giving up the ghost.
A note regarding the other bands with the same name has been placed on the intro page.
Back to work tomorrow. Bad one.
Hooray! The new site design is here. The horrible old amateurish thing is gone!
I've actually had the design (from Holly) for ages,
but I had to re-write each page from scratch to make it into my usual ridiculously-standards-compliant HTML,
and switch as much as possible over to Stylesheets to get away from the dependence on graphic files.
And at last, I've put a guestbook on. Please go and add an entry. Ta.
While I'm here...has anybody seen that advert on TV for a film called Lucky Star? It looked like a great film, but I just found out that it's not real! It's actually a very subtle advert for Mercedes-Benz. It's a trailer without a film. Bizarre. Mercedes haven't ruled out the possibility of funding the making of the full thing if there is enough interest. I would have registered my interest with them but I can't find a relevant e-mail address anywhere. Bah.
